Information for Youth Group Leaders

Staff: Participant Ratio

The staff: participant ratio for each course is specified throughout the document. These ratios are the maximum i.e. a course with a specified 4:1 ratio will generally have 3 or 4 students per instructor, but will definitely have a maximum of 4 students per instructor.

Safety and Insurance

The courses undertaken at Lurgaboy Lodge involve challenge which in turn implies an element of risk taking. While this interaction will be handled expertly by qualified and competent staff, accidents can happen. Intending participants, and where appropriate their parents, should carefully consider this aspect of their involvement before applying for a course. Personal insurance is not provided by the Lurgaboy Lodge.

Lurgaboy Lodge holds its own public liability insurance.

Participants are therefore advised to obtain their own personal accident and cancellation insurance. Age

Youth courses are intended for young people aged between 14 and 18 years of age at the commencement of the course. Anyone under 18 years attending a course must present a properly completed parental consent form.

People with Disabilities

People with disabilities who wish to enrol on centre courses are advised to contact the warden to discuss the contents and suitability of courses. Many courses are possible with a minimum of adaptation.
