School & College Expeditions

An expedition in a remote, challenging environment can have a positive impact on the development of a young person. They learn about their ability to work as part of a team, assessing & managing risk, and working towards a common goal. These are skills which transfer back to the 'real world', academic life and the workplace, making them better equipped for life.

We work with all groups to tailor educational expedition programmes so that curricular & extra-curricular aims and objectives are achieved. These can include elements of the National Curriculum, Key Skills or elements of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

New for 2006

Basic Expedition Leaders Award (Sport's Leader)

The Basic Expedition Leaders Award is a nationally recognised award that trains and qualifies individuals to:

              >> Lead groups in lowland areas

            >> Have responsibility for the care of others when outdoors including day journeys

            >>Organise base and mobile camps

The award is the minimum qualification required by many Local Authorities and Operating Authorities of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme to train and lead groups in the expedition section of the Bronze and Silver Awards.

The award also counts towards the service section of all three Awards in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.

Orienteering Young Leader Award (British Orienteering Foundation)

This award is designed for 14 - 19 year olds enabling them to coach basic skills in orienteering, provide fun activities on a safe enclosed site and enable them to assist as volunteers at local or school events.
